Dear friends, there is a new scam going aroud that I had heard about and just today I got a call stating that I qualified for a grant of $8000.00, it was tax deductable and you didn't have to pay it back. They state your address which is easy to get off the internet and then they move on to say that they will mail a package. Next they go on to ask how long you reside at this address and if you have a checking or savings, your date of birth, name of the bank where they can deposit the money, at ths point I asked why would they mail out a package if you're taking all the info over the phone, he started the song and dance and I hung up. His next question would of obviously been, what's the account number. I hear that a lot of seniors have been taken by this scam. Be careful and do not give out your info. There is also word of this being done by email.

Did you record his phone number from the Caller ID?

and your SSN too.

Act like you are really interested and then give them FAKE numbers.

Just tell them you can't possibly receive that kind of money you'd like to send them a thank you check/note for it. Ask for their address see if they give it to you!

The number was blocked. They only called ounce and did not try calling me again. It will be interesting to see if they mail out the forms as they mentioned, I doubt it but I'll keep you informed.
