Lately when I try to play many audio files, the quicktime screen opens...then plays just 4-5 seconds of the file.

I've reset my default media player to wmp several times as it seems to be changing magically.

How do I fix this?

Do I NEED to have Quicktime on my computer?

Thanks-

Bill

Hello Bill
Open QuickTime, choose the Edit Menu followed by Preferences and select QuickTime Preferences, Select the File Types Tab, Uncheck the items that you wish other programs to use, click Apply followed by OK.
You can now reset WMP and QuickTime will not now change the settings.
A lot of Web sites require QuickTime to show video, so you will need it installed for a fuller experience.
Hope this helps
