My youngest son recently "borrowed" my 1991 Mazda pick-up (35,000 miles...he learned to drive with it).

I'd like eto replace it, but newer Mazdas are really Ford Rangers. They're inexpensive and I'll use it one day a week (Saturday, usually) to pick up mulch, take a mower in for repairs, etc.

Have only had one other Ford...an Escort wagon, which was OK, but not as reliable as the Japaneese vehicles I've owned. Bought it to carry my upright bass...bass cost more than the Escort.

Any experience with Rangers?

Russ

Tony...the S-10 has been replaced by the Colorado...5 cylinders. Know anything about them? How are they different from the S-10. We had an S-10 and the interior went south pretty fast. How old is your S-10 and how is the interior holding up? Is the glove compartment door still working. Most break shortly after purchase, as I recall.

For a pickup I would choose a Toyota, very durable, but I do have good experience with Ford, since I am driving one since the last ten years..(Mondeo stationcar, probably not available in USA?)

Before the Ford I had several Mercedes but I don't want to lay out the big bugs anymore for a car.

My work uses Ranger's daily for inspections. We have used them for the past 15 years replacing them at 125,000 miles and have had excellent service from them.

Thanks! My new Ranger Sport will be built in Louisville the week of 2/4. 3.0 L. v6 engine...bed extender, Rino lining, 6 CD changer, cusom wheels, extra capacity alternator, beefed up front suspension, cruise, tow hitch...lots of "fun" things.

At 2-3000 miles a year, it'll probably outlast me!Curious to see how the low tire indicator system works.

My wife's Z24 has a low tire indicator..she used it last week...the cars starts to vibrate as she drives on a low tire, them rumbles and starts to smoke as it rides completely flat...She said she thought it was the engine and wanted to make it home,,

What the heck, those low profile Goodyear tires are cheap anyway..

I prefer Chevy trucks too...my last one had 285,000 miles[454 engine]on it, and I sold that engine for $500..

Russ ... sorry I didn't respond sooner ... we were visiting the NY grandkids this weekend ... it was great ...
The iside of the S-10 is fine ... it's a '91 ... I was laid up for some surgery a couple of years ago and the truck stood idle ... when I used it again there was a 'shimmy' once I reached 45 MPH ... then I just let the truck sit while I spent about 1 1/2 years trying to decide what to do with it ... It still starts great ... but that damned shimmy is still there ...
I like the US made pick-ups because of the 'double walled' construction ... it seems the Japanese models rust out too fast ...
When did the Colorado replace the S-10 ? ... seems like I see a lot of new looking S-10s on the road ...
