I have an older Dell desktop(1.5g) that is serving me fine except for one thing. It came with two USB connections in the back of the case. I had a Parallel port printer but now I have a USB printer, USB joystick, USB scanner, and I need a plug in for USB thumbdrive and maybe other things. Now I have the printer(which I use a lot) plugged into one of the ports and I have a cable to the front from the other slot and I have to swap out whatever I want to use. So my question is: Is there such a thing as a plug in to one of the USB ports that will add a number of USB plug-ins for me? Thanks.

Just go in to any computer shop or store and ask for a USB Hub, select the number of ports (Inputs) you want, and the type of USB, (USB 1.1 or USB 2) If you are not sure what your computer has then go for USB 2, as this is backward compatible with USB 1.1.

Yeah, just get a USB hub. They don't cost much. Mine was like twenty bucks.

Rather then a Hub you might want to consider a USB card that fits into your computer. It would probably be faster because you would get USB type 2, because you are adding the new hardware & software.

Totally agree with Jerry here. It's what we're doing here at the university with our older equipment. Gotta have USB 2.0 for large file tranfers (or a lotta patience).
