He was just doing what he's been trained to do. Also he had no choice in the matter. That doesn't make him a hero it makes him a well trained pilot.

A hero is someone who sees a car on fire and risks his life saving the passengers. He does this not because he has to but because of his characture.

I guess what I was trying to say Tom, was that all the flight simulator time in the world can't prepare you for the actual event, and like you said, his training certainly paid off "Big Time".
I can only imagine the stress everyone on board that plane was going through.
On the other hand...if there was a "shmuck" in all this, it was Larry King & his idiotic & repetetive questions & comments.

Shboom....I didn't get a chance to see or hear Larry King on this subject but I'm guessing you are on the money....BTW, I'm betting that they had to change a few seats in the passengers section along with the pilot and co-pilot...I know they would have to change mine if I was there....He did a great job.....

Larry king, likes a lot of foam you know ,lots of it,so the capitan done a nice job without the stuff,and Larry was amazed,,cheers, Benno

My thots are that there are some good journalists, and then there is the likes of King.
He was ramblin' off some pretty stupid stuff yesterday, which could only be described as "filler".

.."So, Chief so & so, do you think the passengers are a bit apprehensive, or worried?"
"Do you believe that they're watching the landing on the on-board televisions and fearing for their lives?"
"When the aircraft finally comes to a complete stop, will the passengers be disembarking?"
...as the nose gear makes contact, there's an obvious blow out on the tires..."Are those flames I'm seeing?"

...It's the stoopid questions like this that get me.

..all that aside...I again say to the captain & crew.."Well Done!!"
