Subject: Fw: The European Commission
The European Commission has just announced an agreement whereby English will be the official language of the European Union rather than German, which was the other possibility.
As part of the negotiations, Her Majesty's Government conceded that English spelling had some room for improvement and has accepted a 5-year phase-in plan that would become known as "Euro-English".
In the first year, "s" will replace the soft "c". Sertainly, this will make sivil servants jump with joy. The hard "c" will be dropped in favour of "k". This should klear up konfusion, and keyboards kan have one less letter. There will be growing publik enthusiasm in the sekond year when the troublesome "ph" will be replaced with "f". This will make words like fotograf shorter.
In the 3rd year, publik akseptanse of the new spelling kan be expected to reach the stage where more komplikated changes are possible. Governments will enkourage the removal of double letters which have always ben a deterent to akurate speling. Also, al wil agre that the horibl mes of the silent "e" in the languag is disgrasful and it should go away.
By the 4th yer peopl wil be reseptiv to steps such as replasing "th" with "z" and "w" with "v". During ze fifz yer, ze unesesary "o" kan be dropd from vords containing "ou" and after ziz fifz yer, ve vil hav a reil sensibl riten styl. Zer vil be no mor trubl or difikultis and evrivun vil find it ezi tu understand ech oza. Ze drem of a united urop vil finali kum tru.
If zis mad you smil, pleas pas on to oza pepl. Zen ve vil rul ze vorld.

I cannot believe it because there are 45,000,000 of people living in UK, 55,000,000 of people living in France and much more than 100,000,000 of people living in Austria, Germany and Switzerland. At first the english government has to induct the european currency (EURO). If they haven't done yet then IMHO they're not allowed to make choices to any languages...*grrr*... The rest of the text is really joking, isn't it? ------------------ Greetings from Frankfurt (Germany), Sheriff ;-) [This message has been edited by Sheriff (edited 03-21-2005).]

Boa, ey...that explains the high unemloyment situation in UK to me...it is more than 10 percent, isn't it? It's possible that I'm wrong... when we joined the EEC we was told (british people)that it would be great for us everything would be cheaper cause of mass purchasing, problem is the british government rip off the british public so the people don,t get the benefits,,,,remember when you could buy a BRITISH made car in belgium for a LOT less than in uk, or british goods abroad for a LOT less, heres the best one,(persuading people to instal central heating)north sea gas,its on our doorstep people will be able to centrally heat their homes for pennies, what they didn,t say was how many 1000s of pennies,i agree britain is a great country just a pity their priorities are wrong, mike
