Hello everyone!
I'm trying to figure out how to disable Microsoft Messenger service on my THinkPad (Running XP professional).
So how does one do that?

Go to your windows startup tools that tell your computer what to start up when you turn on your computer....look for the MIMess file
and rename it to something like mickymouse..
with this done, the computer won't be able to find or read the file...

I was able to disable it this way:
Start
Run
type "msconfig.exe" without quotes
startup
Find the MSmess and uncheck it.
O.K.
Restart computer.

I actually found another method. All I had to do was go into COntrol Panels, Administrative Tool, select "Services" and disable Messenger by first stopping it and then changing startup type to "Disabled".
