The Brecker Brotherrs made major contributions to Jazz, and Michael deserves to be respected and remembered not only for accomplishments as a soloist and member of the Brecker Brothers, but for his work with other jazz giants of his era.

He also contributed significantly to the awareness of the need for bone marrow transplant programs and the national bone marrow registry.

Musically and personally, he was a person of substance.

That is very sad to hear the news about Michael. I know the music of the Brecker Bros well. That is a great loss to music.

Sad news indeed. One of my co-workers had mentioned sometime ago that he was ill. He had a close connection to Michael Brecker, their children were friends at summer camp the last 2 summers. A great loss to the jazz world.
