A man had two great tickets for the Football Cup final (you can subsitute Super Bowl if you like, )
As he sits down, another man comes down and asks if anyone is sitting in the seat next to him.
"No", he says, "the seat is empty".
"This is incredible!" said the man, "who in their right mind would have a seat like this for the FA cup final, the biggest sporting event in the year, and not use it?"
He says, "well, actually, the seat belongs to me. My wife was supposed To come with me, but she passed away. This is the first Cup Final we haven't been together since we got married".
"Oh ... I'm sorry to hear that. That's terrible. I guess you couldn't find someone else, a friend or relative or even a neighbor to take the seat?"
The man shakes his head...
"No. They're all at the funeral".

I believe this! I have a friend from Birmingham (UK) who told me there were many citizens who changed their names to "Birmingham City Football Club".

Regards,
George

. . . and I'm sure I heard a story several years ago about a father who give his newborn son all eleven names of the first team players of Manchester United after they'd won the European Cup for the first time.

Also, it's not uncommon for people to have their ashes spread on the pitch of their beloved football clubs. In fact, Arsenal, out of respect for the families of those whose ashes have been scattered on the pitch over the years, will be taking the top six inches of the playing surface off the current Highbury pitch, where they've played since 1913, and re-laying it at their new stadium in readiness for next season.
