*Now* I understand McCain and Palin
I'm a little confused. Let me see if I have this straight.....(hope I'm not offending anyone)
* If you grow up in Hawaii, raised by your grandparents, you're "exotic, different."
* If you grow up in Alaska eating moose burgers, you're a quintessential American story.
* If your name is Barack, you're a radical, unpatriotic Muslim.
* If you name your kids Willow, Trig and Track, you're a maverick.
* If you grad uate from Harvard law School, you are unstable.
* If you attend 5 different small colleges before graduating, you're well grounded.
* If you spend 3 years as a brilliant community organizer, become the first black President of the Harvard Law Review, create a voter registration drive that registers 150,000 new voters, spend 12 years as a Constitutional Law professor, spend 8 years as a State Senator representing a district with over 750,000 people, become chairman of the state Senate's Health and Human Services committee, spend 4 years in the United States Senate representing a state of 13 million people while sponsoring 131 bills and serving on the Foreign Affairs, Environment and Public Works and Veteran's Affairs committees, you don't have any real leadership experience.
* If your total resume is: local weather girl, 4 years on the city council and 6 years as the mayor of a town with less than 7,000 people, 20 months as the governor of a state with only 650,000 people, then you're qualified to become the country's second highest ranking executive.
* If you have been married to the same woman for 19 years while raising 2 beautiful daughters, all within Protestant churches, you're not a real Christian.
* If you cheated on your first wife with a rich heiress, and left your disfigured wife and married the heiress the next month, you're a Christian.
* If you teach responsible, age appropriate sex education, including the proper use of birth control, you are eroding the fiber of society.
* If, while governor, you staunchly advocate abstinence only, with no other option in sex education in your state's school system, while your unwed teen daughter ends up pregnant , you're very responsible. If you try to make victimized women pay for their own rape kits
* If your wife is a Harvard graduate lawyer who gave up a position in a prestigious law firm to work for the betterment of her inner city community, then gave that up to raise a family, your family's values don't represent America's.
* If you're husband is nicknamed "First Dude", with at least one DWI conviction and no college education, who didn't register to vote until age 25 and once was a member of a group that advocated the secession of Alaska from the USA, your family is extremely adm irable.
OK, *much* clearer now.

Good one Chas! That pretty much sums it up.... after reading that you can't help but wonder "what criteria are people really using to support their canidates". Cleary Palin lacks any real experience compared to Obama.., and even in interviews she herself claims she has the experience to be PRESIDENT--who the hell does she think she's kidding! I think the whole thing is a sham. McCain makes a choice (clearly 99.99% based on gender) to sway woman voters. It really peees me off to see all those woman supporters of Obama suddenly jump behind Palin (decisions based SOLEY on gender, and not a damn thing to do with political views because when interviewed SOOO many woman who jumped to Palin's side said they had NO CLUE about her political view..., showing they obviously made the jump based on Palin's GENDER).
I personally was really physched about this election year.., but am disgusted at how ignorant our society can really be. Then the McCain camp (dirty pigs that they are) did everything they could to completely distort that comment Obama made regarding lipstickin a pig.... That dirty SOB himself used the same bloody phrase 3 times (that were video taped).., yet suddenly when Obama uses it.., he's sexist.
I'm not even voting this year. We've had such a great chance to make history but now McCain himself has turned PALIN into the same freakin CELEBRITY he claimed Obama was.. This whole election now is about putting a woman in the White-House who has SOOOO little experience. This countries Presidential elections have just eroded to pure crap.

Since this is a political thread, I'll add my two cents.
First of all, the only reason why Palin is on the ticket is to try to get the women who were disappointed that Hillary didn't get nominated.
Hmm I liked Hillary, and I like Obama much better than what the republicans have to offer.
The republicans had control for the last 8 years, and I think we were better of when Clinton was running the show.
The republicans promise tax cuts while they are fighting an illegal war on credit. And spending zillions of dollars on credit does nothing but diminish the value of the US dollar (remember when the US$ was worth more than the Euro), and that makes everything we purchase that has a bit of foreign anything in it more expensive (including oil). So we are not getting tax cuts, but instead a hidden tax increase.
While thinking about oil. Remember the Reagan (republican) years? We had long lines at the gas pumps and a doubling of the oil prices.
The republicans told us they wanted to reduce the size of the government, so they are contracting out government services to Halliburton, Blackwater, Insurance Companies, Banks, etc., that charge much more than the old government services used to charge. And you know who pays for it.
The republicans severely watered down the US anti-trust laws and allowed huge corporations(like Standard Oil) to merge and become cartels.
Example: BP/Amoco (a merger of British Petroleum, American Oil Company, Gulf and a few others - does British/American mean anything to you?). I knew a woman who worked for BP and her paychecks came from Standard Oil of Ohio. Oh and we have Exxon/Mobil/Esso (Standard Oil). And don't forget supposedly Dutch Shell and Texaco had a thing a few years ago whenre all the Shell Stations became Texaco and all the Texaco Stations became Shell. What's going on there?
And you wonder why we are paying record prices for gas while the oil companies are making record profits after record profits after record profits after record profits - and they blame it on the Arabs. Hmmm. If my local baker has a shortage of flour, he makes less profit.
The republicans are asking us to vote for McCain for a change. What change? McCain said we should stay in Iraq for 100 years. Doesn't sound like a change to me.
And Palin is no better. She was quoted in last Sunday's paper saying we should go to war with Russia. She shoots threatened animals from an airplane, doesn't believe in gloabal warming, and cannot even control her children's sexual behavior. McCain is old, is this the person we want to control the world if McCain dies in office?
I could go on here.

First-year students at Texas A&M's Vet school were receiving their first anatomy class, with a real dead cow. They all gathered around the surgery table with the body covered with a white sheet.
The professor started the class by telling them, 'In Veterinary Medicine it is necessary to have two important qualities as a doctor:
The first is that you not be disgusted by anything involving the animal body.'
For an example, the Professor pulled back the sheet, stuck his finger in the butt of the dead cow, withdrew it and stuck his finger in his mouth.
'Go ahead and do the same thing,' he told his students. The students freaked out, hesitated for several minutes, but eventually took turns sticking a finger in the anal opening of the dead cow and sucking on it.
When everyone finished, the Professor looked at them and said,
'The second most important quality is observation.
I stuck in my middle finger and sucked on my index finger.'
'Now learn to pay attention. Life's tough, it's even tougher if you're stupid.'
