I serve aboard a couple Nuk Subs. In fact while we were on a West PAC 1975 the USS Pintado rear ended a Russian sub we ended up taking the rest of their patrol. Put a Big Dent in the nose. We were sworn to secracy but in the San Diego Union Tribune Paper there it was. A front page photo of SSN672 someone took while in a well covered dry dock of the big dent in the Sonar cone LOL..We could neither "confirm nor deny" the event...LOL

Its not as unusual as one would think because part of Submarine excersizes on the SSNs are to hear a contact and follow and track it, any contact (as opposed to an SSBN where you hear a contact then run deep and fast the other way ).
