I want no socialism here. I'm not alone, I think you will see that next Tuesday.

Typical response (Leeboy's) of someone who confuses Socialism with Communism.

McCarthyism hasn't taught you anything?

As long as capitalist societies have poverty they've failed just as much as the rest of the world.

I've lived in a Communist country and will settle down in one. Never have I felt it was any different for people are people, no matter where you live.

ps. my apologies if this was off-topic

I say let's print a few more trillion dollars of funny money and see if we can get the DJI back up to 14000. Then we'll know we're ok.

Bill, whenever they want something posted in the Bar instead of on the main forum it's because "out of sight, out of mind". Pretty sad, isn't it?

Well, the whole reason The Bar exists is that non musical discussion can have a home of their own. That's cool.

I'm hoping Lee returns to elaborate on his comment about Socialism...

Upcoming election, what do i want? Seriously, what I would really like is for us to decide what our major philosophy is on how our government should be run, and actually let it run that way long enough to see what happens. I really don't understand this back and forth business and how we think that's going to work. 4 years ago America decided it didn't like the republican way of things and gave Congress back to Dems. Which was solidified and expanded 2 years ago with greater gains in congress and the election of Obama. And now it looks like we're swinging back right. Until 2 or 4 years from now when we decide we need to go left again.

As for me, I don't want to raise our debt ceiling again and again and again. 500 years from now will our debt ceiling be 5 quadrillion dollars? That's issue number 1 for me. Everything else is pretty much a sub issue that would sort itself if we ever just decided that we're sick of spending more than we make. What we do about healthcare, home mortgages, cash for clunkers, retirement, education, environmental controls, our intrusion, intervention, and yes even beneficial aid, to other countries, all of it would finally be cut down to size if we ever decided enough was enough and we weren't going to perpetually exist on fake wealth. It takes a bigger mind than mine to understand how we've lasted this long.

I'm probably a bit more awake than you think, lol...

Was it the deals Obama cut with private pharmaceutical and insurance industries in the health care reform that suggested Socialism?

Was it the insistence of the "individual mandate" by Obama which basically forces people under Medicare age to purchase their health insurance from a private insurance company?

Was it when Obama pushed for federal subsidies to help people pay these private insurance companies?

Was it the refusal of Obama to permit a "Public Option" to be included in the new health bill?

Was it the tax cuts for all Americans who make less than $250,000.00 as a individual or $500,000.00 for couples two years ago? Right after he took office?

Was it the bailouts he gave Wall Street, or the auto industry?

Here's what the right leaning, Rupert Murdoch owned Wall Street Journal says on Obama as a Socialist:

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123751241072091037.html

Lee, I'll ask you again since you see things that I don't...

Where is this Socialism that Obama is leading us in?

By the way, Pelosi isn't going away. She just won't be Speaker of the House. That will be John Boehner of Ohio. Will she run again? I think not...She's been around forever and its probably time for her to move on...
