Our very good friend, Taike is just a few days from joining his family in Laos. Just grt off the phone with him.

Let's all wish him the best. I can just see "daDude" waiting for daddy at the airport, with sweet Nok trying to keep him calm.

It's always a pleasure talking with you, Russ.

Still a couple of things to take care of:

-cancel my National Health Insurance
-cancel my Labor Insurance
-cancel my phone line and ADSL service
-exchange currency

It's important to cancel the first two otherwise they'll keep on charging me and I don't wish to end up with a huge bill should I ever make my way to Taiwan again. The only way to cancel the Health and Labor Insurance is to show them my airline ticket.

Mapanoy "Da Dude" will insist on boarding a plane so I need to bribe him with ice cream. Can't blame him for his daddy and mommy love ice cream just as much.

I've got some ELS (English as Second Language) magazines and books plus some other books for the monks as they're always interested in such.

PS: Happy New Year. Wonderful news being reunited with your family. I'll send a picture as soon as I find a camera that won't break when I point it at myself (I'll try to find out what Russ is using ).

Does such a camera even exist? Russ only takes pics from airplanes and helicopters. Well, at least I'll get a good headshot.

According to Russ you make Denzel look like Quasimodo.

I hope you have less trouble than I had when changing all of your contacts. It is a nightmare trying to negotiate some of these web-sites. They want to tell you all the good things they can do for you, BUT change your address...... NONONONONO!!!!!

Have you moved into your new premises yet? Still one more box to pack: my blankets, toiletries and I'm done. But that's for tomorrow.

I'll leave for the airport at 4AM -yes, I know, ungodly hour- so I won't even bother going to bed. Won't be able to sleep anyway as I'll be thinking of my wife and boy all night.

I didn't bother with websites. I went in person. Even then they're prone to screw up like they did last time. If Public Service exams are that hard, how come one (that'd be me) always ends up with an idiot? One of life's many mysteries.

Don't be a stranger now, okay? Us Eggheads (Chas came up with that one...pure genius) need to stick together. It's a cruel world out there!
