friends, i dont want to bother you with off topics too much, but this one is really strange. i put a new cd/dvd writer in my comp. suddenly, the internet explorer doesnt work anymore. first, i called the internet company, i couldn t make the connection between events. but after that i said what if has something to do with the cdrw? i disconnected it, and what do you think, IE runs perfectly. i tried again and again, changing the slots on motherboard, cables etc etc, and the same result: if i have the cdrw connected, the internet doesnt work. if i disconnect the cdrw, internet is just fine! !!!! i will try to find some other internet browser to check with that one too, but don t you think what hapeness is completely ilogic?

Hi adimatis Could be a resource conflict or a faulty drive. (I assume it’s an internal drive) Select Start, Control Panel, System, Hardware and then the Device manager button and see if there are any conflicts (Exclamation marks) if so just double click the faulty item, and then select the troubleshoot button which should guide you to the best solution. If the above fails (Or no exclamation marks show up) uninstall the drivers for all your drives and also the IDE bus, and also any drivers that relate to a network card, then restart the computer and let Windows re-install them, (You may need the original driver discs) hopefully this will solve the problem, if not, then post again with the results of the above operations. Hope this helps
Bill

Bill that was the first thing to do. well, anyway, it seems there is a weird conflict in my motherboard between dvdwriter and network card. no resources conflict or something, but no matter if i reinstall the card or the whole windows, it wont work togheter, simple as that! lucky i can replace the dvdwriter. if the same happenes again... weirdo!
