Hi ,
wondering if any of the sd1 owners have tried replacing Drum Track 2 with a drum audio loop in a style? Amazed how it keeps in sync with the style. The audio loop I had was set at 115bpm , yet the style I used it in was 130bpm.

I was playing around with it for a while this morning and was pleased to find it wasn't all that difficult to do. Opens up some great possibilities.

Does anyone have good source for drum loops, most of the ones I found were more orientated to Dance, Hip hop etc but at least I managed to find a few freebies to try the function out, even if they weren't quite what I was after.

i was more after stuff like Latin, Jazz, Pop etc & they have to be in Wav format.

best wishes
Rikki

Hi Rikki,

I own and highly recommend the Brush Artistry for FANTASTIC brushkit drum (WAV) loops. These are available from BigFish Audio, who produce and sell a huge assortment of quality audio loops from: Jazz to Pop .

Rikki: I sure would LOVE it if you could create and share a song utilizing SD1 synced audio drum loops. Admittedly, this is one feature that I really wished my Tyros2 had.

Hi Scott,
thank you for the great link. The CD sounds like it may be just what I'm looking for. Best part is, I think they actually ship to here.

If I manage to put together a style, maybe I can get someone with a lot more talent to record a song. I'm not much good where performance is concerned, I become all thumbs.

If you get the style made, send it to me and I'll be happy to do a song.

Thanks Don,
any sort of preference in the type of style?
I'm not musical enough to record my own from scratch, but I do enjoy editing & converting & it will also depend on the suitability of the drum loops .

I played through the demo's on the site Scott recomended & they sound great.
I've just been making doubly sure that everything does work the way I thought & hopefully I'll be ordering the disk tomorrow.

What an awesome function being able to play a drum loop in sync.
best wishes

For drum loops I would rather use Drums on demand www.drumsondemand.com or Beta Monkey. DOD is extremely userfriendly, and zuki, one of our zone buddies, put me on to Beta Monkey. Great sounding, but maybe not as versatile as the DOD series imo. But soundwise, they might be the best. Sony, BigFish and other major brands of loop producers are either badly organized or way too expensive.

Good comment on the drum loop syncipation. As former SD1 demo guy, I know this feature existed, but could never really take the time to sync an audio loop...

Isn't it important to name the audio loop the same name as the style to syncipate within the loop ?

How are you getting the audio loops on the harddrive ? Floppy ? Serial port ?

Doesn't matter that much. Blues, Country, R&R, Standards.

Hi DanO1,
unfortunately I had to load them to my sd1+ via floppy disk, because I haven't managed to buy the correct pc cable 9AC123.
The dealer in Australia doesn't have them, so I'm hoping to try & find one internationally.
I tried using my old serial cable that works with my Clavinova & worked with the VA7, but when I hook them up , it just locks all 3 of my pc's ( win 98 & xp) The ketron cable must be wired differently or something.

Anyway, all I did was copy the loop into the sd1+ hardrive. I loaded it into the sampler (it was only 1 bar long) I changed the pitch to "Sync, saved & named it.
Next I went to pattern edit. Created a new pattern, copied the pattern I wanted to use.
And basically replaced Drum Track 2 with the loop & saved it.

I haven't gotten as far as trying to use multiple loops yet, not until I find some good drum loops.
Basically it in a nutshell.

I'll be doing some more fiddling round with it later, so if anyone wants more explicit details I'll be happy to try & help.

best wishes
