Roland has its own style format, and so Technics has. But others, as Yamaha styles, are based on SMF format. So...

Styles based on SMF (for ex. Yamaha) are better for the use, in the practice?

Does Korg PA-80 use styles based on SMF format?

Hi Karl44.
Yamaha Style File are as I am aware the only styles based on a Midi File. The Korg PA80 is Korg Format. There is no advantage from a playing point of view. But the Style Files can be viewed easily in Cakewalk either by changing the extension from .sty to .mid or just typing in *.sty in the open file option in Cakewalk, when all the markers showing the Intro, Main A, etc can be seen and altered if required. If all manufactures used this method it would be reasonable easy to convert styles without having to use expensive software.
