From Brazil to UK, from Bossa Nova to a classic ballad: Careless Whisper by Wham (from "Make it big").
The challenge this time was to create the right atmosphere; to make the comparison easier, I have tried to choose "similar" sounds on both keyboards. The styles, however, are slightly different: 16 Beat Pop for the Tyros 2 and CCCP 16 (by Midi Spot) for the G-70, both played at 82 bpm (slightly faster compared with the original song).

To download the songs, at both sites, you have to register but it doesn't take much time neither is complicated and -besides- I think that they are both excellent sites, where you have access to a wealth of informations and also a lot of benefits.

I think the Roland G70 sounded much better than the Tyros2.

Then again, I think the Tyros2 sounded much better then the G70.

Exactly what I think.

I had my wife listen without telling her what board was being played she liked both thought they were close in sound, but she thought the Tyros 2 had just a little better sound. Nothing really new to report when you come right down to it.

I have this same problem.
I play the new Roland E 80 for a month and I am convinced it is the best keyboard I ever played.
Then I take the Tyros 2 on a 10 day trip playing it only in the motorhome etc, and I say, what could I have been thinking about that E 80.
So...........I suffer the same confusion.
Yesterday, I put the Tyros 2 on a bottom rack as is the E 80 and I will play them more often, one after the other, and see if it is just my brain forgetting what the other one sounds like

This exercise merely demonstrates that the KEY ingredient is the keyboard 'PLAYER', and not the keyboard itself, of which makes the music SHINE. Buy the keyboard which best matches your 'personal' needs & requirements, and then merely take the time REQUIRED to learn, & master its full potential, and you'll be happy as I am, with my keyboard (T2). - Scott

Since I did comment the other test/upload, I thought I could comment this ones as well.
This time I downloaded the files, put it on a memstick, and asked another person in the
house to playback the files, but not tell me what is what.

And in my ears the result are that both are very good, but the one who are T2 sounds
more "metallic" and CD'ish and not as soft and "live" as the G-70 version.
Also I think the sax sound better on the G-70 version.
Anyway, this is strictly my personal taste, as always.

Great playing on both. Thanks for posting these songs.
One of the things I noticed right away, is that there is a bit to much reverb on the T2.
I play the same song on the T2 and it sounds more like the G70 (which btw I liked better).
Having a dryer sound, gives you a more in your face feel. The G70 was a bit dryer.
Then I turn up the volume on the drums and a little on the bass and voila. you have a more powerful sound.

I do exactly the same as you.

I find the reverb too heavy on many of the T2 styles and it starts to get mushy when busy.

I also push up the drums and bass a little for a more "in yer face" feel like I had with the Ketrons I had.

Nice Playing Dreamer - I prefer the G70 version btw but they both sound very good indeed.

Finding the ideal reverb level can be a tough thing and depends a lot on whether you are setting it up for live playing vs recording. In a recording even a little reverb can sound very wet whereas in a live situation reverb tends to get lost in the room ambience and more of it is required to get the same effect.
