Tony, There is a major difference between the E-855 and the 835. The super-cardiod pattern alone makes it worth the extra money. However, having tried both the E-855 produces superior vocal qualities, covering a wide range of frequencies and providing outstanding clarity. I have an E-855 for studio work and it's excellent. The best handheld mic I have is a Samson Q-7, which is relatively inexpensive and it actually sounds better (IMO) than my E-855. I've seen them as low as $69 on some internet music sites--check it out. Good Luck, Gary ------------------ Travlin' Easy

Gary....in all the years that I have been singing professionally, I have always used a Shure of one type or another...hell, I even used the old big Shure that weighed about 5lbs or so it seemed and was about 4 inches square....all of my studio and recording work was done with studio mics and until recently, I never thought about another brand of mic. The industry standard was always good enough for me....then I started reading the posts here and started thing, well, I'm getting older and the voice is starting to change or go, depending on how you ask , and I thought about getting a new brand, hell, I thought I done good until I started reading again... man, all this hi-tech stuff has me baffled. Thanks Gary....maybe I'll just stick with what I got remembering the old adage...if it ain't broke, don't fix it.... Tony Rome
