I like having good electric guitar sounds, such as the ones on Yamaha,Korg & Roland, but for some reason, Ketron just doesn't get it.
If guitar sounds are important, than the SD5 is completely blown away by Yamaha & Korg 7 Roland sounds....

Another area that is poor on the SD5 are the synth sounds... again yamaha-roland-korg totally put the SD5 to shame.

But I do love the overall sound and features on the SD5...I'll be curios about other opinions in the future...

If guitar sounds are poor and so are the synth sounds, so what are the sounds on the SD5 that compete well with other brands. So far I'd just keep well away from the Ketron SD5 based on what you are saying.

How about acoustic nylon guitars??

If a keyboard has poor guitars then that affects pretty much almost every style on the board!

Sound is very subjective.

I don't agree with Dan about the guitar sounds. Read what I said in my review. The actual sample sounds are very good. Maybe there are not the velocity layers of other brands but for most, these are very good quality samples. Our ears are starting to get used to the multi layered guitar sounds on the newest models and this feature is not on the single sounds of the SD5 but their sounds are still quite good. I just went back over to the SD5 and listened to the Nylon, Fingerpick, Brazilian, rock, tele, etc. and they are all fine to my ear. I don't think they will turn heads like the
Tyros2 or KorgPA800 but you certainly would enjoy playing and listening to these.

acoustic guitar sounds are acceptable on the SD5, but how many times are you playing lead with the acoustic guitar sounds ? When you play the rock lead guitars on the SD5 and the synth sounds, imo, Ketron has not addressed that area the way yamaha / korg and roland have for those particular sounds.

The Ketron SD5 Sounds great. But the price point is the even with the PA800.. and I'm certain the lead guitars on the Korg will sound better than the SD5. As many know, I know the Ketron people and love Ketron products. But, Rock Lead Guitars and synth based sounds are something they need to improve ...

If lead rock guitars are important to you, I imagine you are frustrated by not being able to bend the notes wherever and whenever you want to because you are perpetually tied to playing the chords ALL THE TIME with your left hand, or have to use SMFs.
