Scott Yee wrote recently that Technics kayboards have the best jazz/swing styles and I know that Gunnar Jonny is a die-hard Technics fan too. Now, since I have come to know that they are both trustworthy persons and skilled musicians, I started a search on the net for Technics styles; actually I have found a lot of links (too many of them, I could add), so I am asking to you Technics gurus which are the best sites to download styles for your favorite keyboard?

Well, Scott is the "skilled guru" here.....

That depends if it is commercial or personal
sites you're asking about.
There are several of both categories, and the
personal ones I will not rank, they're all
great.
The commercial sites who offer software are
many, but in England you have i.e. Technote,
BCK, Carillon and Neil Blake, in Germany you
have Tayio, Ca Software (All free), Edition Hage,
in Canada i.e. Algo Rhythm, and in Denmark one
of my absolute favourites, MidiSpot.
Sorry to say they don't continue to make any more
new stuff for Technics KN's, but for all of you
other out there, the collections is still growing.
It's not easy to to pick one particular, because
it depend on what kind of stuff you want, and
also your personal taste regarding to the way the
styles/rhythms sound and if they get your feet
tapping

the styles are for personal use and I am interested mainly in the original styles of the 5000/6000/6500, because I think that the original styles are usually the most interesting ones (I think that Scott was referring to them when he wrote about the jazz/swing styles).
I know many sites where Roland and Yamaha owners can download the internal styles from their own and even other keyboards (already converted) and so was asking if there is a similar site for Technics owners (something like a Technics fan club, you know...)

Oh, I see. A little misunderstanding here.
No, there is not any such other than those
forums like Technote, KoolKeys etc. where we
meet, and sometimes swap patterns as far as
I know about.
I found a Technics Group earlier, but it don't
seem to be any traffic.
But if you're patient, I might help you with
some internal KN5000 styles.
Here is no database, so have to copy the styles to
the composer, and then save those to a disk.
tell me want you want to have, and I can copy
some now and then for you.
But there will be a difference between patterns
copied to composer and the original played from
the internal memory.
Just as you probably have by using internal and
exsternal styles in your VA.

I recently finished a set of 14 songs called Swing. Some of the styles are standard Technics files. Others are modified or original ones which I have done. I haven’t had time to post any mp3 files of this material, so you can hear the tunes. However, if you are able remove the Composer parts from the song files, just go to the KN6000 page of: www.kool-keys.com

Are you planning to convert the original KN5000 styles to Roland using EMC? I already saved all the internal styles of the KN5000. They are on my other computer. I saved them grouped by the bank names used in the KN5k, so I think I could send you the Jazz, Swing and what ever. If you want, email me and I'll try to do it tomorrow night - or this weekend.

Graham UK told me that Technics styles convert into Roland format better than Yamaha styles, so I think it's worth a try.

Gunnar Jonny...
It sure took me a long time to save all those .CMP files from the KN5000!! And, I never even converted them, although I do own EMC Universal. What I did with them was to send them on to a a wonderful French-speaking keyboard player, who lives in Belgium(?). He then converted them to Korg pa80 styles to share. Most importantly, he made all the needed tweaks and changes to the converted styles, so they can sound good in the pa80. As we know, the "raw" converted styles usually need much work to get them to sound good.
