I know I'm going to need some more styles for the PA800. Anybody know the best sites?

Congratulations with your new Pa800. Please post a review or maybe even some recordings for DNJ

The Pa800 can use any style made for Pa80 and Pa1X and they will normally sound good without any need for fine tuning. Korg has a lot of styles available for download on korgpa.com . Many of them are already included on the Pa800 but make sure that you check out the Technics styles. These have been professionally converted and fine tuned for use on Korg keyboards, but they still retain that typical Technics sound (which you might or might not like).

You can also find a lot of styles in Korg format here . The styles are converted factory styles from various discontinued arrangers. As you know you should be prepared to do a lot of tweaking to get a sound quality similar to the built-in styles of Pa800.

When loading data from other Korg keyboards please remember to delete any global files beforehand. They have the extension .GBL. You can really mess up the Pa800 if you load a global file from the Pa1X - I speak from experience

I've been working on basic stuff all day, and now I have to go set up. I am comfortable enough to use it again tonight.
I will check out the new styles tomorrow.
I'm getting more comfortable with the kb.

The night went pretty well. I used a lot of setups out of the Music Finder. I haven't checked yet to see if there is a translated version floating around. The names are the usual cryptic ones.
I am still identifying things I need to set up and/or find, but it's getting better.
My initial impression is very favorable. I don't think anyone tonight realized I had changed keyboards.

In my experience,we might as well be turning a handle on a tingleairey...they wouldn't know what was happening below the shoulders...

That IMO is a very poor attitude or very poor assumption. You would be very surprised how many people in the crowd are actually musicians themselves. I can't tell you the number of times I've talked keyboards, guitars, and drums with people after gigs.

Eddie, I think most of the public do not know, and do not care, as long as it sounds good. I guess I was speaking more of the regulars and staff. Some of them have no reservations about telling me when it's good, bad or indifferent.

Ohh, WAIT, you have a Tingleairy!! I always wanted one of those. Is it the 69-key model? Did you get the Pink or Green? Is it the one with the tea-warmer built in?

Sorry, just feeling silly after a rough weekend. I'm going to punish myself by playing golf, then watching the Super Bowl!
