I had an XD3, but I sold it because -very simply- the sound quality was not up to the SD1, which I also owned at the time. I guess that this is due to the fact that both the XD9 and the XD3 use half the sample ROM compared with the SD1 and this affects badly the way the sounds are sampled. The grand piano, for example, has very short decay phase and thus sounds very synthetic and unnatural.
All in all, the XD3 was a very good "rhytm box", but I was never able to use it as a source of sounds.
