Today I found time to visit my former Technics Dealer. Jaap van Putten made the audio-files available on the web 2 weeks ago. It was nice to see him after such a long time (I own Solton/Ketron for several years now, so another dealer)

Jaap showed the new KN7000 :
The housing/shape is not what ik like.
The Tonewheel (hammond) samples impressed me very much.
The 'organ'-simulations are nice too.

Most other sounds/styles cannot compete with the SD1's quality..... the overall soundimage is not 'transparant' and it feels like the 'accoustic illusion' effect, once introduced in the KN5k, still is active. (Oh I hated it because of two reasons. One of the speaker-phases was changed AND I had no possibilty to switch it off as a default)

To be extremely honest : A KN3k wearing a new suit and some nice organsounds as an extra. It's way too expensive for 3900 Euro's in my opinion. (I'm sorry Jaap !)

Technics put way too much effort in exterior and almost none in electronics/software improvements.

Hello,
The price is 3250 Euro in Belgium.
I heard the kn7000 and I find it fantastic,realistic,wonderful....
But everybody has his own taste...it's better like that otherwise we'll end up all with the same car, keyboard and wife.

Hello Arno,

It's good to hear from you on this forum. The pricing differences of the Technics equipment is really absurd. Where did you see the Euro 4400 ? (Jaap mentioned 3900)

Are you still playing a KN ?
A fiend of mine just visited me, acting as a (first time) daddy. A BIG smile and proud....in his car his new born (purchased) 'baby' on the backseats : A Ketron SD1 !!
A true smile from ear to ear.

Alain : I disagree about the reallisme of the KN7000 very much. It does sound like a keyboard... OK.

Hi Roel,

You say a KN3000 in a new suit, not a
KN6500 in a new suit?

Bevan,
Since the KN3000 Technics did not improve the KN series much. The KN5000, KN6000 and KN6500 and KN7000 ......... sound almost the same IMHO.
I heard the samples of the Tyros (by George Kaye) and they sound very realistic.

As I said before we all have a different taste...
I also had a Yamaha psr8000.9000.9000pro
psr2000,solton sd1,rolandxp30,technics 6000,technics6500 and now a technics kn7000.
All the pro keyboards are good..
Some voices sound better in a Yamaha and other voices sound better in a Technics,solton...
When will they invent a keyboard that has everything....never.....and that lasts for several years...

It's the same old story, someone like the mother,
somone like the daughter etc.
I've not seen or heard the KN7k yet, but I guess
when the day come that I buy a new keyboard, it
will be the best in the whole wide world, whatever
name it's printed on it.
The important thing is that the buyer like it,
and that the KBoard suites the needs and taste the
owner has
Enjoy the music and happy playing.
