It would be really interesting what people here do for a living whilst continuing to learn the piano.

I have always managed to find time for practice on piano and progressed now to Abrsm grade 8 standard whilst working doing shifts as a toolsetter in engineering.

Problem now I face is to look for a new job as I am about to be made redundant in my current job.

I really hope I land a job that enables me to still find the time for piano practice.

I am considering lorry driving if I cant find work soon. There are plenty of lorry driving jobs where I live but would mean more hours of work involved which worries me.

Is there any lorry drivers here who still finds time for practice?

Regards
Daz

Daz,

The best advice I have is to establish a specific time that is dedicated to practicing only. It's just the same as going to work at a part time job, a committment that you make to yourself. Eventually, using this technique, you will acheive your goal.

I do the same with sailing. I'm still not a polished sailor, but I dedicate at least one afternoon a week to sailing when the weather permits. In doing this, I'll eventually have the confidence I need to make that long voyage south to the Florida Keys, a trip of nearly 1,200 miles.

Good Luck,

Gary
