Tom....Tony M is correct, it is spelled Duchin...he was a terrific piano player back in the late 20 into the early 40's I believe....he played classical as well as early jazz and the standards of the era ....It had to be you, Shine on harvest moon.....I also enjoyed the movie about him he was played by Tyrone Power and done an excellent job....listen to him if you get a chance....also, I really enjoy listening to your big band cd....Eddie Shoemaker is that Eddie from Fla....

The piano parts for that movie were played by Carmen Cavallaro ... it was a pretty good flick ... there is a CD titled "The Eddie Duchin Story" that apparently is NOT the sound track of the movie ...
"Dizzy Fingers" was a big solo accordion piece back in my 'accordion competition' days ... ...

Tony Rome, hope all is well with you. Happened to see your name in the artist selection of my iPod on the drive into work yesterday. I listened to a couple of your selections " Nice and Easy" and "Besame Mucho. Very enjoyable music

Tony Mads, Since you brought up the name Carmen Cavallaro. He was a terrific pianist. In the late 60s when our local radio station WPRO-FM played what was called MOR music ( middle of the road) I was an announcer there on the late night shift. We had a specific play list each hour, but I use to be able to get away with slipping in some of his music since we had his albums and he was on the playlist anyway just not at the time I wanted to hear his music. Three of my all time favorites that he played were " Music to Watch Girls By", " Yellow Days" and " Make Me Rainbows." ............. But wait there's more, when I studied piano my teacher Salvatore Fransosi had been in a competition for playing a venue overseas. Turns out Carmen Cavallaro and Salvatore Fransosi were 2 of the finalists. The gig went to Carmen and understandably so. I do remember Salvatore telling me about Eddie Duchin as well.

P.S. Tony Mads are you and the Mrs. headed to see Tony Bennett at Mohegan Sun on the 24th?
