Tony Rome, hope all is well with you. Happened to see your name in the artist selection of my iPod on the drive into work yesterday. I listened to a couple of your selections " Nice and Easy" and "Besame Mucho. Very enjoyable music
Tony Mads, Since you brought up the name Carmen Cavallaro. He was a terrific pianist. In the late 60s when our local radio station WPRO-FM played what was called MOR music ( middle of the road) I was an announcer there on the late night shift. We had a specific play list each hour, but I use to be able to get away with slipping in some of his music since we had his albums and he was on the playlist anyway just not at the time I wanted to hear his music. Three of my all time favorites that he played were " Music to Watch Girls By", " Yellow Days" and " Make Me Rainbows." ............. But wait there's more, when I studied piano my teacher Salvatore Fransosi had been in a competition for playing a venue overseas. Turns out Carmen Cavallaro and Salvatore Fransosi were 2 of the finalists. The gig went to Carmen and understandably so. I do remember Salvatore telling me about Eddie Duchin as well.
P.S. Tony Mads are you and the Mrs. headed to see Tony Bennett at Mohegan Sun on the 24th?

Tony R is one of the great 'crooners' around here ...
So you were a DJ in the 'true' sense of the word, eh ? ... that's sounds great ... I've thought of looking into something like that in 'retirement' ... late night jazz... after all, I do have a great face for radio
...
I even have a fairly unique idea for a show ( can't tell you what it is because someone else may grab it
), but I realize that these days it's pretty regimented ... have you listened to that 'new' station 102.7 FM ... some good classic jazz and swing, and Sunday mornings (I think from 9 to 11 AM) it is ALL ITALIAN songs and artists !!! .. it's great for making the meatballs and gravy (tomato sauce) !!!
....
