I place my speakers tilted back about an arms length from me on either side. You can hear yourself perfectly whether sitting or standing and I would think for the kind of places you play you will have way more than enough volume. And the sound is quite rich.

Off the top of my head I know John C and Beakybird among others here use this basic idea with these speakers. My guess is if you give it a test you'll be sold. And you won't have to carry speaker stands anymore.
