OK genius: are you ready?
"Ah Jamaica": very nice reggae beat; the guitar is a bit confused, maybe it's the reverb. The song fragment is too short. Did you record the drums yourself? Very nice. Could use a bit more harmonic variety...OK, forget about it, YOU are the genius after all...
"Latin lovers" (thank you for dedicating a song to us...): promising start, lot of movement. Nice counterpoint and nice rhytm too. The third guitar disturbs a little the effect. Very good overall.
"African violet": very good start. The percussion is the best part, but the guitar should come in later; for this kind of rhytm maybe an electric guitar sound would be better. The percussions are very good and the sound quality is excellent too. I have a feeling that this song would be better without that much guitar. Just percussions and bass and only later a bit of electric guitar. Terry, you have a career ahead of you as a percussionist!
"Floatin on a breeze": nice harp sound in the background. Finally an electric guitar! Doesn't give much the impression of floating on a breeze, though. The beat is too heavy. You don't sound as inspired as in the other songs here.
"Rococco and rum": nice drums. Again too much guitar. Would be better with just drums and vibes and only a few guitar notes. Remember what Miles Davis once said: if I stay silent for 32 bars then, when I play a note, it has a much greater effect!
OK Terry, I'll send you the phone bill...
