UD,
Pls see responce below:
1) Call up a rhythm pattern and have a right hand sound already picked for that style, like the OTS or STS on other brands?
>>>AJ: Partially. If you use Registrations, perfectly. However, you can assing a group of sounds (1 Touch) to each style [using Arranger Mode -> Page 2/2 -> Touch Ass x/6 & Tou-Sty = ENABLE]. This way, when you select a style, and press 1 Touch, your favourite voices assinged to that group of one touch voices will be called. Your homework here is to go through all 6 pages of 1 Touch voices and assigned independently your best 10 voices per group/page.
2) Copy and paste just the bass line from say...variation A into variation B? Can it be saved to the actual style or just to the program section?
>>>AJ: Yes you can copy and paste bass lines. However you cannot make such a change to Factory styles. You will have to create a new style and copy the factory style to this location. Then you can copy and past from var a to b the bass line within this new style. You cannot copy from var a to b of factory styles.
3) Play styles direct from disk, either floppy or HD ?
>>>AJ: Nope. We left this feature for the big guy - SD1
4) Somehow disable the tempo restrictions in the styles that use sampled drums? This is a real problem .... There are a bunch of rhythms that will only go so far, tempo wise. This makes them UNusable in practical application. They cannot be called up in succession during playback of other styles. Tempo should NEVER be restricted or limited.
>>>AJ: You are correct. However, due to the wave file processing, if we reduce the speed below a certain fixed point, the sample starts to sound distorted. For such styles, you can (for now) copy to user pattern and delete the DRUM2 track - however, for patterns that rely heavily on this, you will be missing a few percussive instruments!
5) Use long file names for song titles?
>>>AJ: Due to limitations of screen size, we can only display a fixed character length. This will be increased in our next product line.
6) Call up a menu with a bunch of registrations names to look at, before I actually select the reg. I want?
>>>AJ: YES. You can do this if you are using SINGLE REGISTERS (REGISTERS that reside on FD/HD). These get displayed on the screen and you can scroll through and select the corresponding number. Unfortunately, the BLOCK REGISTERS cannot exhibit such a display as they are handled internally within the processor.
7) Select registrations any other way than the 10 key method? F/S maybe? Advance or decrease?
>>>AJ: YES - using the F/S 6 or F/S13 and you can increase/decrease. [UTILITIES -> FOOTSWITCH (F4)].
Hope this helps.
Thanks,
AJ
