I don't get on a soapbox a lot but need to vent my frustration with Yamaha. In the past three months, i have had nothing but problems with Yamaha products. First, my Tyros went south with a big problem and is still in the hands of the technician to be repaired, simply because of a delay in getting parts from Yamaha. Second, I borrowed another Tyros from my dealer and that went up three days ago, The "e&b keys will not work. I took that back to the dealer and borrowed another Tyros. after getting to the gig, found that the trim button for the vocalist will not work correctly and when th trim is increased volume wise, it does nothing but hiss. I also have a PSR 2000 that still has not been repaired under warrenty for lack of parts. Third, i purchased a set of YSTMS50 speakers from BestBuy.Com which was a final sale and after a weeks use, they went up. After paying for repair, found that the subwoofer's volume will not increase. I guess that the MS50's will end up in the trash can very soon. My point in all of this is as much as i love the Tyros it's not worth a pig's foot if it is not reliable and parts are not readily available when a problem arises. Neve again will i purchase another Yamaha product. I will start looking for another manufactuer that has quaility and reliability .It seems since Yamaha stopped making thier instruments in Japan, and are now made in China for greed reasons, just like many American companies are doing, the quality and reliability is no longer a factor. Steve Demming , if you read this please forward it to your company. My mind will not change on this subject. No longer will i rely on a keyboard with great potential but with absolute lousy reliability. Bob ( Hop my bloodpreasure can go down now.)

Well at least you got it off your chest Bob! Expressing your displeasure be it to your wife or this Forum is good for the soul and yes, I think your BP will start to go down now. It's not healthy to keep things simmering inside you and I congratulate you on your boldness to let us and Yammie know of your frustration. Having said that, I think yours is an extremely rare case Bob. 4 Yamaha products going south in such a short time is nothing short of amazing. I think your point about Yammie products being made in China now has some merit. I just wished they'd start training those Chinese workers better and have better quality control on the assembly line. You know; educate (train) them better so they know the difference between a soldering iron and a blow torch type of thing. (That's not a put down of the Chinese people). It is "Yamaha's" job to see to it that their workers "wherever they may be from" are well trained and well qualified. ![](http://www.synthzone.com/ubbs/smile.gif) It seems Yamaha perhaps is not doing that as well as they should. I hope you get your Tyros back and it runs okay this time Bob. It would be really interesting if the repair shop could actually tell you specifically what caused the problem in the first place. Sometimes they can pinpoint what caused the problem (external or other causes, etc.) Also, you say the possible electrical cause was already checked out. But you didn't say by whom. The Power Company itself? Or was it a 'self' diagnosis using something from Radio Shack, etc.? If it was the Power Company then an electrical cause is most definitely not the reason. If it was a self diagnosis, well... As to other Arranger Keyboard companies you have several to choose from. Korg with its Pa1XPRO which is a half baked released to the public Arranger Keyboard if I ever saw one. Then there's Roland with the VA-76 which is 3 year old technology but it does have 128 note Polyphony although no Vocal Harmonizer. Also you have GEM with its Genesys PRO but it only has 64 note Polyphony. Ketron has the SD-1 Plus but it likewise has only 64 note Polyphony but with the Plus version you get a 'few' additional notes of Polyphony. And then you have Casio. ![](http://www.synthzone.com/ubbs/biggrin.gif) ------ Choose wisely Bob! ![](http://www.synthzone.com/ubbs/wink.gif) Best regards, Mike [This message has been edited by keybplayer (edited 02-23-2004).]

I have had quite a few Yamaha products over the years, and have had a couple of problems myself. Most of the Yamahaha's ( ok it's a misprint but after reading it I had to leave it..lol ) I have had played without a hitch but two others gave me fits.
The most frustating part in all of this is right in line with what you speak of Bob.. Having to wait many ( 11 ) weeks for a repair to be completed which amounted to a simple "Yamaha", potentiometer being shipped from Japan so that the pitch wheel inj my PSR740 could be repaired. In the end, once I was made aware of the exact nature of the problem, I looked up the part and realized I could have bought an identical spec pot' at Radio Shack for a couple of bucks and completed the repair myself in probably less time than it took me to drive the keyboard to the repair center in the first place.
My second problem was the very buggy PSR2000 ( my first 2k ). It spent many weeks as well at the repair center while the tech waited for parts that never came. It had several maladies, including registration memories that worked "at random", or not at all, and a disk drive that went bad very early in it's life. Eventually, the store and the tech agreed that my board was basically toast and I got a refund.
My second 2000 worked without a hitch. So did my PSR 530, my PSR85, PSS480, CP25, my YStm50 speakers, my Yamaha XG softsynths / plug ins, and couple of toy arrangers from the 80's. My Motif and the Motif ES that followed it have also performed without a hitch, but the OS in the latter has given me fits, even though it appears to work exactly the way Yamaha intended it to. Heaven forbid I should go to Motifator and even suggest that the OS isn't the best. I can feel the heat from flames just thinking about it.. lol
Still, that's an almost amazing amount of bad luck in a short time.. the law of averages has to catch up and even the score at some point, you would think ..?
