I want to buy some gear with which I hope to record vocals. I also need some monitors. Because i don't swim in the money I came up with the following products:

Monitors: Edirol ma-10d
MIC: Rode NT1
Soundcard: M audio Audiophile 2496
Mic preamp: M audio Buddy

Do you have any other suggestions? Or do you have good or bad experiences with any of the above products? Please let me know. So, I won't waste my money.

ah 110 220 what a pain in the but huh! I know just how you feel about that. Voltage conversion for audio equipment is just a bit more involved than your average electric razor.

The microphone used for vocals along with its recording enviorment will have an influence of over 95% of the resultant signal. Put more primatively, the mic means everything (practically), as it is your source signal. TAKE YOUR TIME selecting a microphone and if at all possible, aquaint yourself with a sound tech or engineer if you do not know one already. Ask he or she if they will go with you to select a microphone. Once you have your personal microphone, take great care of it.
