I know what you mean, but everthing else about Tyros far outweighs the negatives.
I tried one out yesterday, and I have ordered mine (but it won't arrive until January next year). The best sound and styles I've ever heard, and the pop up screen is great for my bad eyesight.

There is a LOT of empty space in the Tyros. Most of the electronics are packed onto a tiny board near the harddrive. The power supply is at the other end and isn't much bigger. Hence why it's so light! However I don't think many will dismiss the tyros because its too big! It's much nicer to use when everything is clearly spaced out instead of closely packed minute buttons, also the fact it's silver makes it look bigger than it is!
