Dear Harosha/Roel;

Which dance styles are you refering to ( i.e. names)?

Roel---How is your new Tyros? Any new Pros & Cons? What is it that you like more about the tyros compared to the other KBs you have tried?

Thanks

BN,
The (MY personal)Tyros impressions :

Pro's
Well designed. (SD1 and PA1X are kind off 'messy'/unlogical)

compact housing. (the PA1Xpro is HUGE!)

Low weight. (less than SD1, PA1XPRO is heavy)

EZ operation, even without reading the manual
(The PA1XPro just is too complex, what is caused by reducing the number of buttons)

Nice adjustable display without touch-screen.
(SD1 is OK, PA1XPRO has TS and the view angle is not OK)

Very fast booting compared to all others.
(SD1 takes minutes, even with only 3 samples to load)

Great styles and sounds.(The overall quality beats both the SD1 and PA1XPro)

No...I repeat NO latency or dropouts!
(The SD1 still has latency and dropouts, I noticed dropouts on the PA1XPro)

Drawbarsound better than SD1 and PA1X
Strings very good, without noticable looping sample. (SD1 shows loops)

Guitars are very realistic,
Accordeons have the same quality as SD1 (I disliked the PA1x ones)

Choirs are superb, the SD1 sounds 'toyish' compared to the Tyros.

Using registrations is soo easy/fast for stage use. (8 positions per bank, number of banks = unlimited)

The tyros is a real realtime machine, it's possible to explore while playing.

MIDI-file playback is OK (just as the SD1 is)

Signal routing has many options (separate outs etc.)

Silent HDD (the SD1 disk is noisy)

Con :
Only 61 keys. (but I got used to it)

I did not play the SD1 since I got my Tyros

Dear Roel;

Thanks for the update. I have to say that some of your comments surprised me. I have heard the PSR 3000 for a short while, but I am not sure how it compares to the Tyros. I did not think that the tyros had a organ drawbar system ( I thought that was only avaliable on the Pa1x & G-70).

What about the vocal harmonzier. I have no personal experience with the tyros harmonizer, but do with the pa1x. I have heard comments that the tyros harmonizer is not up to par with the other top model arrangers. Do you find this to be the case?

Do you find the styles on the yamaha to be more realistic sounding then the SD1 plus? I have my opinion on the topic, but would very much like to hear you interpretation.

Thanks

BN,
All of them (PA1X, G.., SD1, Tyros and PSR3k) have virtual drawbars.
On top of the drawbars there are 'preset' organ samples. (e.g. Jazz Organ, Overdrive etc.) The Yammies sound very nice including the Leslie DSP.

I did not use the Tyros harmonizer yet. The SD1 harmonizer is mono (!)
We use the TC Voiceworks.

The Tyros styles (especially the PRO-types) are excellent and perfect for the gigs we have. Beautiful arranged with great instrument choices.
All (EMC?) 'converted' styles that came from Solton, Ketron, Roland or Korg sound poor and not Tyros worthy
