Hi, can anyone tell me if the keyboard action on the PC2x, K2500x, and K2600x are the same? I've played the PC2x and liked it, but none of the stores around here have the 2500x or 2600x in stock.

For what it's worth, I didn't like the action on the S80. I thought the TritonProX was better but didn't like it as well as the PC2x or as well as the ZR-76 for that matter. Liked Roland's "PA-4" hammer action too.

The K2500X and K2600X are the 88 note keyboards with the full weighted action. Ive tried the PC88 and PC2 and they feel exactly the same to me.

It is the the 76 note versions of those synths which are not fully weighted so dont compare them to the PC synths.

Chris, did you mean the PC2X and PC88 felt exactly the same as the 2500X and the 2600X, or did you mean that the PC2X felt the same as the PC88?

The action used in the PC2X and K2600X should feel very close to PC88's and K2500X that have been built in the last year. There have been some signficant changes in the materials used to greatly improve durability.

The action on the PC2 (76 key) is an action that we have not used before in any previous product. It is semi weighted like the K2500 and K2600, but its slightly different...I guess its slightly lighter and definitely faster.

The action in Ensoniq's ZR-76 is a Fatar action, so is an Alesis QS8, but the action that Kurzweil buys from Fatar is unique to our instruments.

Just a side note: the action used in Korg's Triton ProX is actually a Yamaha keyboard. It may not be indentical to the S80 but its a similar mechanism.

Don't even think about the 76 key Kurzweil. Spend the extra few bucks and get the 88 key. It's a wonderful keyboard. I had a 76 for a few days and took it back as it has a spongy feel and a severe habit of double triggering notes when playing fast due to the way it bounces.

I agree with Kevan on the 76-note keyboard. I recently tried out the K2600 and K2600X in a store. While I didn't try it for a long time, I did like the feel of the 88-note keyboard better too. I'm not even a piano player and I thought that I would completely dislike it since I usually find weighted keys too heavy for me.

It is actually quite easy to play and what I noticed about the keyboard feel when playing the sounds is that it is much more dynamic. I find it easier to play pp, p, mf, f, and ff and any variations than on most synth action keyboards. Typically I find it tough to play at different velocities consistently on synth keyboards. The K2600X felt solid and great.

Keep in mind that I only spent about an hour with it but I liked it.
