Hey there Chris. Have you figured out whats wrong with that JX3p? I just sold mine last summer (bummer) I had mine since 1986! Back then it was state of the art, I still love it and I will buy it back later. All those years and youd think I could figure out what you are talking about, but I cant seem to be able to help, The memory switch idea was a good bet though. Lets see, mine had a modification made from Roland on it to give it an extra midi channel and touch sensitivity. You should check with roland about this update, its old now but you may still be able to get it, its a must if you plan to use it with other synths in a midi set up otherwise the 3p will want to play back all channels at once....i got off topic....ok. Oh, yeah, the 3p was rolands first midi synth and its actually circa 1983 or earlier though i dont know what year it ceased production, my guess is around 86 when the JX8p came out. See ya...
