Come on. I've heard so many rumors about this. When will Roland release it. Okay, we know that Roland has long commited itself to making expansion boards, but with their new XVs, they should continue to make more SRJV Boards since they included the four SRJV slots.

It seems as if the industry has leaned toward having more realistic sounds as seen in its new XVs. But really, Roland could continue to rake in big bucks if they made more SRJVs. They would make money off of the XV, XP and JV owners.

How about some suggestions:

a) Roland could come out with 8MB light versions of their SRX boards. Imagine having an 8MB version of a future SRX board so us Roland XP/JV owners could also take advantage.

or

b) Continue to make more boards.

I have the Bass & Drums, Orchestral, Hip-Hop and Experience. My XP60 is dying for some realistic guitar sounds.

c) Roland could put some XV sounds on an expansion board for the XP and JV. How about a SRJV-XV1 or something.

Well, a) and c) would be the cheapest things to make. b) would require more research and money.

What do you guys think about all of this? Please contribute to this discussion.

Could it be that Roland merely included SRJV expansion slots in the XV synths to entice JV/XP owners to sell their synths and upgrade to XVs? I reckon Roland would advise you that you could get some great guitar sounds by selling your XP-60 and buying an XV-88/5080 (or, better yet, you might want to keep your XP for the sequencer AND upgrade to an XV-88/5080) and loading guitar samples.

Your option "a" sounds reasonable, though.

Well, thanks Wilkes for the agreeing with option a), to come out with 8MB light versions of the SRX board for the XP and JVs.

Why would Roland include so many SRJV slots to entice one to upgrade. I've heard people complain about the amount of SRJV slots available compared to SRJVs in the XV88/3080/5080. They should continue the SRJV and SRX lines.

But coming out with 8MB light board of the SRX in an SRJV format would cost Roland next to nothing and would happily squeeze more money out of Roland XP/JV owners, as I don't want to upgrade, I love my XP60.
