I sure wish they would come out with those SRJV19 and SRJV20 Boards. A guitar only board would do so much good. A lot of the internla waveforms can do well, but they are all missing something. And it's not like the ones in the XV are any better.

Want some really good guitars? Check out Roland's SC880 and SC8850 guitars. Those will knock you away. Especially the ones in the [CLEAN GUITAR] category.

Now if Roland did release that SRJV20 Sampling ROM expansion that I've heard so much about, we may be in good hands. Thisway, if we don't have a great sound, WE COULD GET IT ANYWHERE.

I would buy a S760 if I had the money, but for $250, I'd be able to get my hands on 8MB of Flash ROM that will play whatever I want it to.

Hi Epu and all,

So what are you going to do if/when Roland releases a "guitar only" SRX (and not JV) board? Are you considering upgrading to the XV-88/3080/5080?

I recall reading somewhere that Roland considers the JV board library to be 'complete', and will be focussing on expanding the SRX line now.

Regards,
Chris

Pity Roland have only seen fit to give the XV3080 and XV88 2 slots for SRX boards!!!! They've committed the same blunder that Korg did with their Triton keyboard- only give it 2 slots for expansion. Geez are these manufacturers out of their minds????? Do they expect us to turn our boards around/unscrew our racks each time we want to change boards- far out brussel sprout!!!!

You know, there are going to be people who wil upgrade to the new XV3080 and 5080 regardless of what comes out for the aging JV and Super JV series.

The bottom line is that if Roland at least released a SRJV20 Expansion board, is that they would make money!

There are also people out there who will not upgrade to the newer XVs. But at least Roland could continue to make money off of them and satisfy them.

Think about this, even if Roland offered us a 8MB Flash ROM, the XV5080 will still have 120MB more than us. Also, this could add 8MB (yielding 520MB) on the XV5080.

Think about this.

Hey all. After looking at the patch content of the Latin expansion board, perhaps what was thought to have been the SRJV19, may just as well be the latin.

The Denmark site states that the majority of the patches on the Latin Expansion Board (SR-JV80-18) are dedicated to Acoustic & Electric Guitars, Brassand Percussion. As a matter of fact, there are 57 Acoustic Guitars, something like 20 or more Brass patches (Ens & Solo) and lots of auxiallry percussion.

With Roland's improved sampling techniques and implementation of the 8MB available, I can't wait to check out these new sounds.

In truth however, it seems that there is a SR-JV80-19. This board will be called the "House" expansion board. However, I know nothing of this board becuase it's listed only on the Japanese site - I can't read japanese.

Could you give us the exact site address for the Latin board patch list I have gone into Roland.dk but could not find the list.
If there are so many guitars, why would they create a guitar only board, doesnt that seen redundant? (out in November hopefully)
Of course many of us with XVs are waiting for the (mythological?)new 68mb orchestra board!

I just happened to breeze past this site. I'm about to head out to school, so I'll post up the exact URL later. Also, the Roland Canada site (www.roland.ca) has a similar patch list.

When I say patch list, I infact mean Patch Map. This lists a general layout of sounds for all 18 boards on a grid (similar to the one in the 1998 RUG Magazine). It gives a general decrpition of the quantitiy of each sound category, not the individual patch listings.

The Patch Map (as I will now call it to not confuse anyone) says that it has 57 guitars.

I'll be back here later.
