Hi Rikki

Not sure about the sequencer, but I have found with the player that if you load the version designed for NT, and load it using the NT compatibility mode it works fine.

Win 7 Pro allows you to run a virtual version of XP in tandem with Win 7 so that there is little software that will not work, (As with all things there is not a 100% guarantee that all older software will work) however it is not available for your version

If you already have a full paid for version of XP (Not an OEM version) that you are not currently using, you can use this software http://www.virtualbox.org/ to run it in tandem with your version of Win 7. (A bit work involved though)

Hope this helps

Bill

Hi Rikki,

I haven't tried XGworks, but I've been able to get other legacy applications running in Win7 64-bit.

1. Right Click on the xgworks.exe file
2. Select the Properties Menu
3. click on the Compatibility Tab
4. Click on "Run this program in compatibility mode for" windows xp SP1
5. Click OK.

Should work unless the underlying hardware has changed.

Where you get into trouble is if the application does any direct access to hardware, then you will need to download and use the W7/XP virtual function.then you can actually run XP.
Only available in the PRO version I believe.

HiBill,
not sure if there is an NT version? It's such an old program, I had a couple of updates that got it to work on XP.

I only have XP as part of my old Netbook, which is going downhill fast. Buttons falling off everywhere haahaa.

Be sorry to lose XGWorks eventually.

Thanks Bill

Hi Lee,
I did actually read something on the virtual XP, sort of haven't wanted to spend the money upgrading if I don't have to, just in case XGWorks still doesn't work with it. Be just my luck.haahaa
Might read up and see if there's any other benefits in upgrading to Win7 pro, to try and justify the expense.

Thanks Lee

Rikki,
Hi...good to hear from you.
If you have W7 PRO you can download and install the XP stuff free.

Wow,
I think I've got it working.

I've got XGWorks working on my old xp netbook .

All I did was copy the Yamaha folder that the program is in onto a zip drive, then copied it into my Win7 laptop.

In short, I didn't actually try & install the program, because every time I put the program disk in my win 7 computer it rejected it as not suitable.

I copied the little icon that starts the program onto my desktop, clicked on it, and amazingly the program opened.

I loaded a couple of midifiles, so far so good.

Sounds too good to be true, so I've got my fingers crossed.

Got a couple of other old programs I couldn't install, might try the same thing.
