Hey guys I just wanted to post that I fell in love again with my G70 you know it's Keybed best of all arrangers to date and sounds are still as full as anything out there I used my Tyros 4 and my G70 as a combo yesterday and Again relly find that as a great combo of sounds Roland with there sound and yamaha with there sound work very well .

just that the G70 is hevey but after I get over that playing it's keybed for piano and organ and combi piano and strings just sounds and feel great, now this being said if Roland steps up and Intros a new unit I am in , Tyros 4 piano and organ patches lead something to be improved upon and Roland still has them beat much thicker sound esp in a live situation . your thoughts ?

I agree with you....

I have owned a stable full of comparison arranger keyboards...and have done a side by side comparison...The G70 has out performed everyone of my other arranger keyboards..
as follows..

G70 won out over the following, with features , sounds, key feel etc..

Roland G1000, E50, E60, E80
Korg PA800
Yamaha Tyros 3

I agree this is where Roland shines every time.....do some recording as an A/B comparison with the same sounds & you can HEAR the difference every time for sure.. this includes the G70 VH unit also.... this is why Roland can wait 10 years in between offerings on TOTL arrangers which dispels that "OLD TECHNOLOGY" theory..lol.....good luck to you....good to hear it from someone who actually has a T4 & a G70 side by side.

Nice to see someone reacquaint themselves with older gear. I agree the G-70 is still a formidable arranger, despite it's age.

However, compared to Yamaha's and Korg's latest offerings, G-70's piano and organ (and drums) are really the only standouts (in my opinion), and Roland is in dire need of a new TOTL arranger based on their latest SuperNatural technology, as in the Jupiter-80.

I must say, after many months, I'm still on the honeymoon with my Yamaha Tyros4, and I am still getting a natch playing the SA/SA2 instruments, as well as the fantastic mega (and now, SA/SA2) voiced styles.

We all have a sound we like to hear coming from our speakers, and it's a very personal choice...I'm happy to say the Yamaha Tyros4 does it for me in spades.

It's nice to see the old G-70 still has it's dedicated users and fans...I hope I feel the same way about the T4 in as many years.

If G70 or E80 weighed 20 pounds less, I'd still have one! 50 pounds plus is just too much for this old man to lug around every night. And a true break/fill would sure be nice.
BK7m is a viable option, but is has some operational drawbacks such as need for an external screen and no vocal processing. Sounds and styles are even better than G70 and E80.
Roland gear doesn't get old so quickly because they do updates when they are needed. Both G70 and E80 had total makeovers adding new features, such as MP3 player, and revamped styles and sounds.
Yamaha also does updates every two or three years. They cost about $3500, less trade-in or sale of your old keyboard.

I thought about adding the BK-7M to my rig, when I still was using the S910 and P-85 (I planned to control it with the latter), so I could have some the Roland sounds/styles, but it was just too much of pain to bother with...it is an absolutely horrid piece of gear, although, I must admit, it sounds great (even better than G-70) and the styles were pretty good as well, but, I can understand why so many returned the instrument.

Thankfully I got a great deal on the Tyros4 so things worked out for the best.

Life is good.

Ian, not that many people that I know of returned the BK, if they really gave it a chance. I am a member of two forums specifically dedicated to it, and they both have many happy users, and the number is growing.
The majority use it with accordions but there are many that use it with keyboard controllers as well.
It has a variety of midi controls that are easy to use. In fact, it has a Wizard that works very well. Just plug in the controller and it recognizes it and sets it up automatically. Not foolproof in every case, of course.
There is an upgrade promised for later this month that will address some issues that customers have had.

I was expecting it to work with a digital piano, much like the excellent RA-series (of which I owned several), but, it's certainly not designed for that use.

Yes, it is primarily for accordions and controllers, but it is a shame that something that could have been so useful to those who wanted a fresher sounding Roland arranger, ends up being of relatively limited use.

It would have been a perfect addition to a Roland FP piano, or even the V-Piano, but neither of those instruments would provide enough control to make it worthwhile.

So close...and yet so far!

I think all keyboard maker should take note the G70 keybed plays so much better then Tyros ect I own both and I love them both it is just the Piano and organ sound on Tyros 4 ESP when using a midi file it seems to eat up piano sound I find using both and not every gig but just for bigger dances ect it is very nice to have both and offer up a different sound let's all hope Roland steps up and does a Arranger wothy of the G70 it been 8 years so I could Imagine what this unit could be must be good keybed and 76 keys slim it down so the weight factor is adressed I am on my 2nd case for the G70 and just broke the wheel on the case yesterday so let hope Roland doesnt go the cheap route and cave to the masses.
