Col Honestly I think this style conversion needs work...is it me or alot of hand clapping in the beat is going on?...I remember having this problem with Yamaha conversions and had to use a micro editor to remove them......thanx for sharing.

Hi Donny

The hand clapping is the style, the Tyros 5 Orchestral Bossa, it's
on the S970 as well as the Tyros 5, give it a try and see what yours sounds like. Be interesting.

Col, I have no knowledge of vArrangers, but it does not as good as the other major keyboards.

I have listened to other vArranger and feel pretty much the same.

This is not personal to you Col, it’s about the vArranger. Could I be missing something?

I have had the vArranger for several years and sound wise, even using the SD2 module, it sounds better than many. I think the SD2 is still the best except VSTi's that can be loaded instead.

Since I know you have an excellent ear, I wonder what you listened to.

Just my opinion, but a good one nonetheless.

Sd1000 blows away the sd2....

The sd1000 uses the same sound collection as the sd7...

The only other instrument that gives good results with Varranger is supposed to be yamaha Moxf or Motif Xs/Xf. Because they keep true to the GM standard...

Roland integra 7 as well a Korg Kronos have top knotch sounding GM onboard, however they are less balanced then Yamaha and Ketron...

I didn't express it very well, but my point is that vArranger is not deficient to most keyboards in sound. The old SD2 is good, and it goes up from there.

Here you go Donny, had another go same style just muted the percussion track.

https://app.box.com/s/e1amguly32u2zp0ywat8b5lrgt1qx9gk

Just to make a point regarding the voices, the style voices are Dan's sf2 set (vSynth)only the right hand voices are the SD2.

Hello Colin,

In the next vArranger version, the drum kit number 41 of the Tyros 5 styles, will be redirected to the brush kit of the gm2 synth, so it will sound better and not with claps smile

By Jove Dan you're a glutton for punishment you never cease to amaze, well done and thank you, it's been a real revelation and inspired me to play again as well as just singing to backing tracks.

Thanks' again

shocked Sounds like vArranger is as good as it is that it's not possible to improve further.. grin

Hmmm, make me more interested to try the vA.
Which midi controller keyboard would be close to "perfect" for use with vA?

Bernie, many years ago just before the Kn2000 came out I heard a controller keyboard with six modules: Piano, strings, brass, woodwind, bass, and drums. I thought it was the best I had ever heard. One problem: each module was $900 to $1,000. It was the first of its kind.

I bought a Kn2000 and a Yamaha synth. Midi them together; the sound was good but far too much to think about. At one time I almost bought a sound module from you; I think it was the SD. ??????

To answer your question; I listen to the overall sound. That does not take into account -- a poor amp. – poor choice of style --- or poor instrumental choices. Each time I have listened to a vArranger, there were some good individual sounds but the overall sound seems to be missing something. I do not get that feeling with Yamahas, Korgs, or Rolands.

Important; I am limited in this area, I know what I hear – the vArranger might be the star of the future.

John C.

PS, I am totally anything that will take me away from my performance. Even, as someone suggested; after a while you do without thought – I rather put my efforts in how I play and sing. I live with KISS. Keep it Simple Stupid.

Load the vArranger onto a 2 in 1 computer, and you have the equivalent of a hardware arranger module that can play a number of manufactures styles in a competent fashion, and can use 3rd party sounds. It can also be updated with new features and sounds, without having to buy a new unit every time. (Unlike a hardware module/keyboard)

It’s also reasonably priced (vArranger plus 2 in 1 computer) in comparison to a hardware arranger.

Right on. While looking at the pic of the Ketron SD40, I was thinking between my touchscreen 13inch 2 in 1 hybrid notebook and a Korg Nanokontrol2, I got a lot more controls andvolume sliders that do not exist in the Ketron Sd40. I ordered a $10 wireless mini joystick. If it works with my Windows 10 PC, I will attch the little gamepad onto my accordion and control vArranger while strolling around. That will be neat!

My current rig is just the MJPro, a Korg Microkey controller kb that all fit on a backpack and a Bose L1 Compact.
I'm a singing OMB and just waiting for the vArranger to have vocal input with processing/harmonization capability to replace MJPro.
I prefer just to lug a 15" 2-1 touchscreen laptop, a compact, lightweight controller kb and a Bose L1 Compact.

I have. Not yet heared of Dann wanting to implement a software vocaliser in the Varranger..

However, there is quite some mid to high end solutions that will work in combination with Varranger on your laptop that would give you even more harmonisationnthen the hardware vocalisers...

What software vocalizer are you referring to? Antares?

BTW, running vArranger on a 15" touchscreen will be nice. I'm looking for a bigger screen than my 13.3" I can't find any 15" 2 in 1 or larnger with 1TB SSD and 16 Ram.
