In reading your post, I haven't gotten the practical use for this procedure. Would you please elaborate ?
Bernie, As an option to writing your own pads or buying what is available, you can copy a track from a sequence and record it on to a pad.
Lets say there is a instrument or a percussion solo and you want to capture so that you can use it in one of your pads then you go through the above procedure.
I like to take parts of a drum riff like a bongo riff or snare and high hat riff and put them on to a pad then use them with the style I am using.
There are times when I use Step Record in creating a pad (difficult passages I am not able to play)
If you are working with a solo that contains a harmony part (Ex. Piano) you must make sure all the notes blend against a C chord The same though when you are creating a style.
Fun thing to do, John C.
