SEQUENCER TO PAD

Moving instrument or drum solo from a track in a sequence and moving to a pad.

1-Record or load song in keyboard.
2-In playback, find which track has the solo. Turn each track on and off.
3-Select Menus (Right side of keyboard.
4-Select Performance pad.
5-Select Sequencer to Pad.
6-Enter the first and last measures of the solo.
7-Select the Bank and Pad where the solo is going.
8-Select the part of the pad to record in. 1 or 2.
9-Enter the track you found in step #2.
10-Press OK.

Drum solos are copied from a GM Midi File.
It can also be done using a Technics midi file, but there is a lot more to do.

Hi John
In reading your post, I haven't gotten the practical use for this procedure. Would you please elaborate ?

Bernie, As an option to writing your own pads or buying what is available, you can copy a track from a sequence and record it on to a pad.

Let’s say there is a instrument or a percussion solo and you want to capture so that you can use it in one of your pads – then you go through the above procedure.

I like to take parts of a drum riff like a bongo riff or snare and high hat riff and put them on to a pad – then use them with the style I am using.

There are times when I use Step Record in creating a pad – (difficult passages I am not able to play)
If you are working with a solo that contains a harmony part (Ex. Piano) you must make sure all the notes blend against a “C” chord – The same though when you are creating a style.

Fun thing to do, John C.
