As a guitar player, I thought you'd be interested in this.
In 1967, I bought a Hagstrom III. Amazing piece of work, extremely fast neck, and lots of versatility.
Well, my brother, stole it from me in the late 70's and it ended up in a pawn shop, and from there, it was history.
I'd always loved that guitar and wanted to try to find another. Yesterday, I found a Hagstrom II(1975) in an obscure music store, someone had brought it in to sell on consignment. It's even the same burnt mahogany finish.
Long story short...it's now part of my collection. It's seen some rough times and rough handling, but she's found a good home, and sounds just as pretty as my old one.
Good things come to those who wait.

That's great you were even able to find one nowadays. I do remember Hagstrom guitars ( Swedish aren't they ? ) and I had one friend who had a black Hagstrom that was very similar in design and sound to a Les Paul. But that was in 1975 and I think it was about the last time I saw one.

Did you get a good deal on it from the music store you found it in ? Are you now using that in your band ?

Hey guys, thanks for the memories. Our guitarist in the first band I was in had a Hagstrom. This was in 1962 in England. I remember it had a red glitter body and a huge, clunky-looking metal piece behind the strings between the bridge and the end of the fingerboard. Within this metal frame were about four or five equally clunky- looking buttons for switching between pickups, etc. Rick said he loved the action on it.

Our next gig is this coming weekend, so I'll bring it along with my Tele (just in case).
Paid $400 Can. which may seem slightly overpriced, but from personal experience, having owned one previously, the neck alone is worth it.
If you've never had the opportunity to play one, the experience is well worth it.
Thanx...
I'll post a pic tonight when I get home.

Here's my "new??" addition to my guitar family.

She's old....(1975)...but she's a sweet ride.

That looks fantastic. And $400 is not at all too much to pay for a guitar like that. That would only buy you a new copy nowadays.

Are they rocker switches for the pickups? What pickup settings does it offer ? I'm guessing those single coil pickups have a good bite to then.

She's really a beauty!!!
The pic is a little bit dark - does she have double single coil pick-ups? This isn't the usual Strat pick-up position...

Is she having a switch for each pick-up? You see I don't know anything about Hagström. I only know Fenders, Gibsons and Ibanezes...aah, and Hohners, Rickenbackers, Ovations, Washburns and Yamahas. I'm guessing that there are ten times more or so but I don't know them all...

Wow, she's really a beauty...

The switch configurations can be a bit confusing at first glance.
Basically, they're single coil (lots of bite), there are two switches for each pickup, one of which is a dedicated on/off, the other, splits between top end and bottom end.
The lone switch above is a kill all, handy if it's sitting in a stand, ready to go but with no risk of feedback in the off position.
I'm trying to get used to (once again) how fast this axe is.
This is gonna be fun........
