Does anyone know how to make Roland G70 "remember" the User Program Hold settings?
I go to the Hold setting menu (on the Set List menu), check everything except Tone, and save to the memory. It works fine, until I turn off the keyboard and restart, then it forgets the Hold parameters.
What am I missing?
Thanks,
DonM

Not sure if I'm getting you right, but when you save your settings to a UPG, do you then set that UPG to be the default startup UPG?

If not, the G70 will startup in Free Panel Mode, maybe not what you want.

Thanks Diki,
I have saved everything to a startup UPG. Still, it doesn't remember the Hold parameters. Once I reset them, it seems to remember them o.k. Not a major thing, but . . .
I wish there were more Global freeze settings that remain the same regardless of UPG or other commands.
Oh well, I won't have it long anyway. It does have some great live styles and sounds.

Don....I'd be interested in hearing your professional pro/con opinions regarding the G70 in a live pro gig situation when you get time ....

Thanx

I'll find out Tuesday night! So far I like the sounds and styles, especially drums and bass.

Don, I find it funny..anti G70 people state they "don't like the sounds and the styles, especially the bass and drums"..

I happen to agree with you..and I think most of the styles on the G are the best I played..

Funny how two people can hear things completely different.

Don,

I have noticed the same thing. It s etremely annoying.

In G1000 they had 4 hold button on the panel, so these were "real-time" parameters, that one could set or change during play. I bet the G70 designers ar treating settings on the Hold screen the same way.

This illustrates yet again the shortcomings of the heavily menued operating system over physical buttons. With the buttons you could easily see their states at all times, and change them with a single press. With the settings buried in the menus, you have to pres the "Hold" button just to see the current settings. And just because the button is lit, does not mean that the required settings are in effect.

I don't know if saving the Hold settings with User pograms is the way to go - its intent was exactly the opposite, to prevent progam changes from changing selected settings. But IMO, these hold settngs should be memorised from the last power-down, or a separate setting is needed for the power-up states of the Hold items.

I am also as annoyed as you are by the OTS forcing Intelligent (one-touch) chort recognition - this makes the OTS buttons all but useless to me. Besides complaining on line, I had also spoken with the Roland USA support person, and he indicated that my complaint was forwarded to Roland Italy. You may want to call them as well - perhaps if there are multiple users asking for this, it will get more attention.

Regards,
Alex

I have the same problem with the tempo change parameters. I like it set to Auto, and it resets every time I reboot.
This means when I boot up the keyboard, I must manually check at least 3 parameters before I can start playing.

Hello All
On my Wersi Abacus if you select a preset were the functions have not been saved, it defaults to the global settings (You can adjust the global settings and store them as the new default) if the functions have been saved in a preset then this will always override the global settings. (It automatically selects the last preset used on start up)
Is it possible that the Roland defaults to global settings on start up, and you have to select the preset you require to get the settings back?
Just a thought

Bill

From what I can tell, you assign a User Program to be the Global startup. Problem is, it doesn't remember everything on startup. Apparently it remembers what it wants to!
