Don,
I have noticed the same thing. It s etremely annoying.
In G1000 they had 4 hold button on the panel, so these were "real-time" parameters, that one could set or change during play. I bet the G70 designers ar treating settings on the Hold screen the same way.
This illustrates yet again the shortcomings of the heavily menued operating system over physical buttons. With the buttons you could easily see their states at all times, and change them with a single press. With the settings buried in the menus, you have to pres the "Hold" button just to see the current settings. And just because the button is lit, does not mean that the required settings are in effect.
I don't know if saving the Hold settings with User pograms is the way to go - its intent was exactly the opposite, to prevent progam changes from changing selected settings. But IMO, these hold settngs should be memorised from the last power-down, or a separate setting is needed for the power-up states of the Hold items.
I am also as annoyed as you are by the OTS forcing Intelligent (one-touch) chort recognition - this makes the OTS buttons all but useless to me. Besides complaining on line, I had also spoken with the Roland USA support person, and he indicated that my complaint was forwarded to Roland Italy. You may want to call them as well - perhaps if there are multiple users asking for this, it will get more attention.
Regards, Alex
