The piano parts for that movie were played by Carmen Cavallaro ... it was a pretty good flick ... there is a CD titled "The Eddie Duchin Story" that apparently is NOT the sound track of the movie ... "Dizzy Fingers" was a big solo accordion piece back in my 'accordion competition' days ... ... Read more here: http://www.amazon.com/Eddy-Duchin-Story-Tyrone-Power/dp/630236308X

PS ... is Eddie Shoemaker related to WILLIE Shoemaker?!? t.

Tony Rome, hope all is well with you. Happened to see your name in the artist selection of my iPod on the drive into work yesterday. I listened to a couple of your selections " Nice and Easy" and "Besame Mucho. Very enjoyable music
Tony Mads, Since you brought up the name Carmen Cavallaro. He was a terrific pianist. In the late 60s when our local radio station WPRO-FM played what was called MOR music ( middle of the road) I was an announcer there on the late night shift. We had a specific play list each hour, but I use to be able to get away with slipping in some of his music since we had his albums and he was on the playlist anyway just not at the time I wanted to hear his music. Three of my all time favorites that he played were " Music to Watch Girls By", " Yellow Days" and " Make Me Rainbows." ............. But wait there's more, when I studied piano my teacher Salvatore Fransosi had been in a competition for playing a venue overseas. Turns out Carmen Cavallaro and Salvatore Fransosi were 2 of the finalists. The gig went to Carmen and understandably so. I do remember Salvatore telling me about Eddie Duchin as well.
P.S. Tony Mads are you and the Mrs. headed to see Tony Bennett at Mohegan Sun on the 24th?

Tony R is one of the great 'crooners' around here ... So you were a DJ in the 'true' sense of the word, eh ? ... that's sounds great ... I've thought of looking into something like that in 'retirement' ... late night jazz... after all, I do have a great face for radio ... I even have a fairly unique idea for a show ( can't tell you what it is because someone else may grab it ), but I realize that these days it's pretty regimented ... have you listened to that 'new' station 102.7 FM ... some good classic jazz and swing, and Sunday mornings (I think from 9 to 11 AM) it is ALL ITALIAN songs and artists !!! .. it's great for making the meatballs and gravy (tomato sauce) !!! .... t.

TonyMads Congrats on 43 years send my regards to Lydia, she's done a great job
Yes, I was a DJ....but I had to stick with a script, no adlibbing like a Cousin Brucie or Dan Ingraham It was a fun job, I was a senior in high school at the time. I'll have to check out 102.7 sounds good.
BTW no explanation on "gravy" is necessary We do that some Sunday mornings as well
Tony Rome, I look forward to hearing more of your music.

In the very early 70's, the famous old Phoenix hotel here in Lexington was remodeled and a "grand opening" week was scheduled. Carmen Cavallaro and his trio were headliners for the week. My partner Tom Johnston and I were offered the regular job. We didn't take it (day jobs), but were on the bill and I got to listen and visit with the band. Sat in on my old Ampeg upright and Ampeg flip-top.
