Interesting...
I found a way to get to switch between styles and SMF's on the fly as a workaround for Roland's, but short of patching a MIDI cable between the outs and ins and making sure that ONLY the 'control' track got sent through (doable, mind you), Roland's have pretty much ignored this seemingly useful feature (amongst many others, mind you!).
As I said before, this seems like a very easy way to get the Ketron 'Riff' feature on your arranger, where if you want to jam two handed, MC for a while, play a solo on another instrument, etc., while you are still in style mode, something can take over the chord input duties. Better than Ketron, really, because YOU can determine which chords get played.
But I still miss my Chord Sequencer, just because you could lay down that chord progression on the fly, different every time, etc.. But thanks for showing us about a probable little used feature that has quite incredible possibilities...
